BCT Owners Private Stock Ecuador & Peru Videos

Last year Camilla and I travel through out Ecuador and Peru. We enjoyed serving with several English Congregations in Ecuador, some of which were newly formed. During those 3 months we also were able to enjoy a excursion into Peru. It was such a great trip that we starting promoting a new Ecuador + Machu Picchu Peru trip.

What a trip. Started in Guayaquil Ecuador with the destination of Machu Picchu Peru. Achieved by every mode of transportation available. By foot, Taxi, Bus, Train, & Plain.

BCT & Friends were in Guayaquil to attend the District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Attended meetings in Olon Ecuador and Cuzco Peru. After a short stay we enjoyed the beaches, surfing, food, whale watching, and exotic drinks of Montanitas and Puerto Lopes then 6 of us headed to Machu Picchu. On the way we toured the Branch in Lima.

We affectionately called our trip the ‘RoCaPho and Cali Girls Peru to Cuzco Road Trip’. (Whew! now thats a mouth full).

Anyway as you can imagine we took many many pictures and so did those traveling with us. To view and enjoy the photos video style please click on the BCT YouTube  link below. Experience with us how we got there and enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of Lima, and Cuzco. Wonderful trip.

Bible Lands Tours – Safety Issues

Bethel Coach Tours takes great pride in its travel business and goes to great lengths to ensure that you will not only have a satisfying travel experience, but more importantly, a very safe one, particularly when it comes to  international destinations.  Please bear in mind that BCT is operated by all dedicated brothers and sisters who on principle would make sure that all travel arrangements would be planned with the utmost care.  BCT would never put any of its travelers in harm’s way.

With so much happening in the world some have expressed concern about BCT’s travel plans to the Bible Lands later this year.  Below you will find helpful information about each destination (Israel, Egypt and Turkey) in connection with travel safety in view of what is happening in the Middle East.

ISRAEL

Israel

Foreign government advisories often warn against travel to Gaza and the West Bank – but generally they do not discourage travel to Israel.  Additionally, it can be said that no place in the world is totally safe, however, Israel’s capital, Jerusalem, was just voted one of the best cities for travelers in the world by a major travel magazine. Prior to travel, we will make a routine check with the Consulates to be sure of the local situations.

EGYPT

Presently, Egypt is very safe (interestingly, there are no lines at any of the major museums, tourist attractions, the Great Pyramids,  etc.) in fact, a recent article in the New York Times said it is perhaps the best time ever to travel in Egypt.  So this year may be one of the very best times ever to travel to Egypt.  As with Israel, we will make a routine check with the Consulates to be sure of the local situation.

TURKEY

TurkeyMany people are asking the question: Is it safe to travel to Turkey now that there is so much upheaval in the eastern Mediterranean countries?  The question is a good one.  To answer the question we pose another one: If there were trouble in Havana, would you cancel your trip to New York?  Think about it, major trouble in one country hundreds or thousands of miles away should not affect your travel plans to another country.  As with Israel and Egypt, we will make a routine check with the Consulates to be sure of the local situation.

Note the following comments from one travel expert: “I’m writing this from Istanbul in late March 2011. It’s as beautiful and welcoming as ever. No trouble. People here know what’s going on in Libya and other countries the same way I do: by watching the news and reading the newspapers. Other than that, there’s no effect.” The expert further writes: “It’s important to judge travel safety rationally, not emotionally.”

BCT is closely monitoring what is happing in the Middle East and thus far everything is a go with all of our travel arrangements as advertised.  If at any point there is a need to adjust the trip to the Bible Lands we will immediately inform you and keep you updated.   Therefore, we hope you can travel with BCT and enjoy a “trip of a lifetime.”   If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact BCT and we will be happy to assist you.

Bible Lands Tours – Q and A

Q: Will we be able to visit Egypt and if not what is the alternative?

A: Just last week the Egyptian government re-opened the Cairo Museum and the Pyramids (we plan to visit the Cairo Museum and the Pyramids) along with the other major tourists spots. Barring another uprising, BCT still plans to visit Egypt. If it turns out that visiting Egypt is not advisable then the alternate plan is to visit Jordan (we really haven’t made any final decisions on just what we will see in Jordan, because Egypt just re-opened for tourists.) However, in just a few weeks we will have to make all of our final arrangements for either Egypt or Jordan and stick with that (booking hotels, transportation, etc. must be made months in advance to secure them.) Thus, it appears we will work toward going to Egypt.

Q: How much money should I bring?

A: The US dollar is widely accepted in Israel, but not absolutely everywhere. Usually when you use a foreign currency (such as the US$) in any country the vendor will apply an exchange that is not favorable to you. In some parts of Israel that is still very true but many merchants accepted the US$ at a reasonable exchange. I suggest bringing $200-$300 US, but do plan on getting shekels (in your country) and at the ATM and have your US currency as a back-up. Be sure to bring small bills as not everyone will have change. ATMs are plentiful all over Israel. When you enter a withdrawal amount into the ATM remember you are entering the shekel amount, not the US. For example, if you enter a withdrawal amount of 500, you are asking for 500 shekels, not $500 US worth of shekels. The principle will apply in Egypt and Turkey.
